The Spence Family - Slurry Tank Deaths

It is very easy (particularly for those of us that work in confined spaces every day) to become blase about the dangers of confined space working and to forget the human tragedy that surrounds the statistics we are reminded of at the start of every confined space course.

Today was the final day of the inquest into the deaths of Noel, Nevin and Graham Spence - three members of the same family who tragically died in a slurry tank in Northern Ireland in September last year.

Read the BBC report issued on the final day of the inquest.

Already their deaths have increased awareness of the dangers of working in slurry tanks... for further information on the hazards of working with slurry see the HSENI Website.
